lol........I dont know which way to turn or which to use or not to use!!! My Onc. told me NOT to use Ibuprofen, motrin, advil...ect.... Then in the other group I belonged to they said dont use Tylenol, then someone on here said dont use Aspirin (which doesnt matter cause I am allergic to it but can still take Ibuprofen.....go figure) sooooo I just take which ever I think will help at the time and hope it doesnt hurt anything. Mainly I take Ibuprofen though cause it seems to work the best for me.

I always take Advil Cold b/c Tylenol is a "no-no" on Gleevec.  I do not get "sick" that often which is incredible since I am a teacher. For the sniffles and/or sneezes, Advil works for me.   I have gotten "sick" once since dx and it required an antibiotic, but that was a week after I 'admitted' I was 'sick.'

PS- Europe was great, I didn't have any complications while I was gone.  Trevor and I are going on a cruise in a week for his 30th, I am so excited!!

Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2006 00:07:02 +0000

Suzie,
Boy can I symphathize with you. About three weeks ago I just woke up one morning with my nose all stopped up........a cold! I havent had a "true" cold since well before I was diagnosed about three years ago. I was absolutely miserable I sat around going oooooooh Im gonna die........Dale got a big kick outa that for which he got soundly smacked several times......lol........within two days it dropped into my chest and it was awful. I felt like I was drowning, I would hack and choke and cough. I knew the drill, having had bronchitis several times in the past. I already had a medrol dose pack here and a full script of tetracyclain so I started both and used a nebulizer about three or four times a day. After about a week it seemed on its way out.........yeah right.........I was still very tired though and the fatigue just kept getting worse then a little over a week ago I started having these coughing spells, sounded like I was hacking up a lung, it was worse when I laid down expecially on my left side. When I saw my Onc. Thurs. I told him about it and he listened to my chest. He said I had Bronchitis in my left lung to start the antibiotics again only to double up. Weeeeellllll, I thought okay it will get better now.......errrrrrr, wrong answer, I woke up at 3:30 this morning with a 102 temp and have felt like crap all day!!!! I have found out since DX that any sickness I get seems to last twice as long. Here is my suggestion........take tylenol (I believe that is what you said you tolerate) and get you a big bottle of Robitussin (either Cough or DM) I am a firm believer in Nyquil but have found that Robitussin works better. You could take the Robitussin during the day and Nyquil at night if it helps you sleep better. Something else that will clear your nose up is Sudefed but not the sudefed PE it doesnt work as well as the sudefed with ephedrine in it. It works really well. Well I hope you get to feeling better soon!
Hugs,
Katy
