Cytarabine was given to relieve bone marrow leg pain caused too many wbc in the 
marrow. Gleevic worked for him for 18 months, then hydrea and blood 
transfusions for another 7 months. He had advanced to the accelerated and 
perhaps the blast stage.

I had suggested the john hopkins clinical trial for philadelphia negative 
patients as well as a mini transplant possibly avail on the west coast, but he 
felt too weak to travel and wanted to try this to get relief from his pain.
