Ramesh Kurup *INGENIOUS: Abdulla Pulparamba writes with a pen fixed to his head with an elastic band. * KOZHIKODE: Physical disability just cannot deter a person from writing. Abdulla Pulparamba, hailing from Chennamangallur in Kozhikode, writes with his legs, elbow, head, and you name it! "I can write with more than 10 parts of my body, with a pen fixed to it," says Abdulla, an autorickshaw driver. He He can write with both hands simultaneously, in reverse order and even in mirror image. Abdulla can write in seven languages, including Tamil, Kannada, Urdu and Arabic besides English. After practising for more than six years, Abdulla demonstrated his 'writing skills' at a few exhibitions at schools and other public venues. The shows earned him fame in national media channels. Abdulla, who believes that the only excuse for not being able to write is "to cease to exist," says his aim is to inspire people who are unable to write due to physical challenges. "One can write with almost any part of the body if he/she is willing," says Abdulla. The beginning of his 'experimental writing' dates back to his school days when he had to try out his left hand after the right one grew tired writing a "heavy imposition" given by his teacher. "That was only the beginning," says Abdulla, who makes use of his specific equipment comprising a wooden penholder, elastic band to fix the pen, and a range of sketch pens, among other things, to present his skills. The 43-year-old 'pen-acrobat' aspires to enter the record books with his skills. "I have the Guinness Book of Records in mind," Says Abdulla. -- ============================= Hashim K T +974 5706929 (It is your attitude, not the aptitude that determines your altitude)
