Foundation Program
As part of the educational reform project, Qatar University is making a
substantial investment in education by adopting world-standard curricula,
attracting world-standard faculty and enhancing teaching and research. The
mission of QU Foundation Program is to prepare high school graduates to meet
the minimum common entrance requirements, in English, Math, and Computing
skills set by Qatar University. Comprehensive curricula, the latest
textbooks and teacher-prepared materials are all used to equip students with
all necessary to pursue competitive college programs. With more than 2500
students and 180 teachers, the Foundation Program offers a dynamic and
stimulating, yet professionally challenging, working environment.

The Foundation Program's Math and Computer Department at Qatar University is
currently recruiting Math and Computer Teaching Assistants who are
culturally sensitive and resourceful academic professionals that are seeking
creative input within a diverse faculty, commencing in September, 2009.
Responsibilities include teaching up to 15 contact hours per week for
lecturers; 4 additional office hours per week; contributing to and
participating in testing/assessment; curriculum development; e-learning;
departmental committees, student advising/support activities, and community
service.
Candidates must be willing to work in a dynamic, changing environment.
Classes will be conducted in English.

Competencies:
- Adopt and develop a "student centered" approach to teaching and learning;
- Ability to contribute to/participate in an innovative and challenging
academic/instructional program;
- Develop expertise in using course management environments such as
Blackboard to support taught courses and assessment;
- Adapt to a different culture/learning environment and Contribute to a
collegiate atmosphere in the Department and the Foundation.

Qualifications
- A minimum of B.Sc. degree for Math teaching assistants positions in
Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or statistics from an accredited
University.
- A minimum of B.Sc. degree for Computer teaching assistants positions in
Computer Science, or Computer Engineering from an accredited University.
- Minimum of one year of college level teaching experience - preferably at a
Foundation level; overseas experience is desirable;
- Experience in testing/assessment; curriculum/materials development; and
e-learning delivery;
- Highly developed IT skills and abilities in using current instructional
technology;
- Fully fluent in the English Language (speaking, writing, and reading) -
Evidence of at least 70 points in iBT TOEFL or 6.0 points in IELTS is
required.
