I fourth or fifth the endorsement of the Garhauer cars. At about $59 for a 40-40 UAG pin stop car, you just can’t go wrong.

 

Personally, I find that the spring loaded blocks have more flexibility in handling a range of sail sizes and sheet angles than the low lead cars.  Low lead cars have higher safe working loads, but the 2800 pound working load on a 40 series block is more than half the break strength of my sheets – and about 3 times the max sheet load I ever expect to see.

 

I have the line adjustable cars on both of my boats, the Garhauer EZ G1 on the 25 and the EZ G2 on the 38. I’m very happy with them. And Guido even made the ball bearing cars for  the EZ G2 system to fit the Merriman H track on my boat at no extra charge.

 

Sam has Salsa line for the adjusters on his genoa cars, which probably looks really cool, but I’d suggest it’s overkill. I use cheap 5/16ths Yachtbraid  for the adjuster lines. With the ball bearing cars and 4:1 tackle, adjusting the sheet lead is a one handed job – probably not much over 50-75 pounds of load on the adjusting line. I just bought some 5/16ths Salsa for light air spin sheets on the 38, and it is stronger than the 7/16ths Dacron sheets I use with the genoa. But Salsa would look way cool.

I've got the level ll version on my 26 also. 

Definitely not needed, but I preferred the look to the level l with the spring holding the block upright. So for an extra $50 I went with the cooler ones.

I've got "Salsa" line on the 3:1 (I think) adjuster leading back to the cam cleat mounted on the rear of the track. 

 

Definitely a good upgrade!

I have the level 2 version on Penniless - smaller boat, but I don't know if the genoa is that much smaller than on a 36. My J measurement is 13.5 feet, so a 155% genoa is around 20 feet long at the foot. I am happy with the cars and have the adjusters with the cam cleats.

 

I have a boat full of Garhauer. Good stuff.

I am considering replacing my floppy snatch blocks on slides with either low lead cars or spring loaded blocks on slides.  Does anyone have any input as to what works best.
