That sounds like just a bad joker valve in the head. Cheap and easy to replace. It does involve getting a little dirty though. The bowl half fills, requiring a "dry" flush to clear it again. Upon arrival, we had the holding tank pumped out, but haven't tested since. I suspect it has much to do with hoses and hose placement.
