They were numbered sequentially, all 351 early C&C 35's. The first 204 we call MKI's and the last 147 we call MKII's.the company made no distinction on build because the same mold was used for both with some obvious mods for the MKII run.none of these 35's have the swords on the ends of the cove stripe with is unlike all other C&C's and despite major differences between the MKI's and MKII's they were numbered sequentially from start to end of production run. The 35 MKII's got very expensive to build and profit margins were small on the design so C&C ended the run and tried to appeal to that "35 footer" market segment with the C&C 34 which hit the markets a little later on.

Is it that there are no distinctions between MkI, II and III in the numbering scheme? Where did you find out that only 147 MkII's were built? My father bought her used (I think from someone in Canada) in 1974. Would that mean it is a 35 MKII, hull #40, with a certification date of January 1974? If so, I wonder if in fact he bought her in 1976 - I'll have to check the old bill of sale when I get home. Jim Watts suggests that CCY means she was built by Calder Building Co. in Arizona - or are you saying it could have been Canada? Anyway, Cat's Paw is another one for your list. In excellent shape, currently on the hard in Mattapoisett, MA. Eric Frank Cat's Paw C&C 35 Mk II Mattapoisett, MA _____ No virus found in this message.
