The motor mounts on Cats Paw seem to be OK. I took a crowbar and tried lifting the forward end of the engine under the mounts. Could lift it about 0.5 inches but everything felt pretty solid, so I guess I will assume they are OK for now and go ahead with replacing the dripless shaft seal. In any case, the mounts could be changed after the boat is in the water again, whereas the shaft seal needs to be done on the hard.
Any further advice from the list about testing motor mounts would of course be appreciated. The engine is a Perkins diesel, 3 cylinder 30 hp installed about 1980.
