Josh is correct. You will get a better bond with the Interprotect if you apply your bottom paint before the barrier coat has cured. The label says if you can still make a thumb print in the barrier coat, you're good to go. The window for application will vary with temperature. You will have more time in cooler weather and less time in warm conditions.

You'll get a smoother (faster) finish if they do. Hard to tell exactly how thick each coat is, so a 50% increase is probably good insurance. Just think, you'll probably only have to (want to) do this once so you might as well do it well the first time.
