I am no expert - but believe you have to set up your email account as an IMAP account rather than POP3. With IMAP, the various mail clients are synchronized so that if you delete an email on one device, it is deleted from all. (I have 4 devices from which I can read / send emails - so it was critical for me to have this feature). I don't use gmail - I have my own domain with godaddy and it was not difficult to set the account as IMAP - not sure if gmail can be so easily configured
