Well, after several trips back and forth from Sarnia to Muskegon, we made the
trip. Travelled over a week ago Friday and after a weather delay, set out
Monday June 1. A bit rough on Lake Michigan and after 13 hours we put up in
Ludington for the night, cold wet and tired. Had a great dinner in an Irish
pub. figured out that autohlem won't work unless all the wires are plugged in.
and were on our way at the crack of 10 am headed for Mac. 25 hours and a
beautiful moonlit night later (greys reef at sun-up) we arrived and overnighted
in mackinaw city. Thursday and Friday were spent on Lake Huron where we saw
most conditions, fog, wind, rain, fog again, no sunshine and lots of jumbled
waves. Arrived in Sarnia a bit before midnight Friday. US coastguard had squall
warning and later a thunderstorm warning on Friday.
We added a little automotive heater I had picked up at Princess auto that took
the chill out of the cabin and made it MUCH more comfortable. Engine ran
flawlessly and the instruments all worked well once we got things dialled and
plugged in. We're real happy with our C&C. I think our biggest issue was
slippage in the throttle linkage which we solved with a short piece of cord to
hold the throttle position and one of the rope clutches continued to slip so we
cleated the main halyard. Is there a dry lube that can be used on the sliding
parts of the spinlock rope clutches?
Thanks for your help and suggestions this spring.
