Hi, On a LF38, the rudder basically hangs from the rudder nut-collar. The bearing is a thrush bearing which sandwiches between nut-collar and the bolted-in base plate. There is only one bearing.
I made a new thrush bearing from PTFE-Filled Delrin Acetal Resin Sheet (McMaster-Carr item #8578K411 $19). I used the old one as a template, cut it out using a jigsaw, and rounded it off with a sander. Since the flat surface is the bearing surface, a good cut edge is cosmetic only.
