Not sure what boat you are talking about, but I got disgusted with mine
probably 15 years ago, and scrapped the whole boom;

It had a SS slide in the aluminum which galled and was just really poorly
designed compared to today's products.

I got an extrusion and end fittings from Charleston Spars, put a 2 foot
Harken Ball bearing outhaul track on the end, a six part block outhaul
inside the boom, and love it compared to having to run up on the deck and
crank a little winch on the boom.

Also gave me an opportunity to add a foot to the short boom.
