I enjoy sailing by what I see wind doing and anticipating the changes coming by observing water, clouds and shorelines. When I have raced with wind instruments I have found them useful to backup and verify my thinking but not as a primary tool. I am wondering about an accurate flu gate compass as that is a primary decision making tool upwind and downwind. My reading suggests that accurate and replicable wind data costs big $.
I am thinking of radar alarms to alert me to boats and land that my feeble d brain cells miss.
