There are significant differences even between different varnish
finishes. They are not all the same when wet!

I wouldn't think it would be any worse than a varnished wood floor.

My biggest concern would be whether it is slippery when wet.

We are having new cushions made for Corsair by Canvas Innovations in
Holland, Michigan. While we were up finalizing the plan and
selecting fabric, we saw a woven vinyl flooring made by Infinity
Vinyl that look pretty interesting. It is used in Tiara Yachts and
he was doing a Ski boat in his shop. Corsair was built with a
fiberglass pan floor. This flooring is interesting because it is
laid down like a rug (with snaps on the corners, if needed). It is
about 1/4" thick and cushioned. The Admiral was really impressed
and is thinking hard about doing a floor set. It runs $9.58/sq ft,
so it's not cheap. I liked the Teak and Holly pattern. We have
always just done throw rugs. This would be a little step up.
