An alternative to adding various sun covers on roller furled sails is to use a sleeve from ATN or a local canvas shop. This one cover will provide protection for ANY furled headsail so you need only add it once for the the boat. Probably costs more initially than a sewn on cover but it protects ALL your headsails.
Hoist over the furled sail with a spinnaker halyard, zipping the cover closed as it rises up the sail. When fully hoisted, tighten the external control lines (a pair producing a 'diagonal' pattern like a Chinese finger toy) and tie off. To reduce windage and possible noise to your dock mates, wrap another halyard spirally around it and tie it off. I have used one for many years while club racing. If I was more of a cruiser, I might go for a sewn on solution for my most used sail.
