I would not do this. Not because of electrical reasons, the thick wire running forward can certainly carry a few amps of solar power, but for safety reasons. That wire is probably fused at 100-150 amps or more and is – or should be – only hot when the windlass switch is on. I would not want that live 24/7/365.
