On closer inspection today, the Sierra 21 micron is primary, and there is a
Fram P8043 secondary, with drain, mounted on the VW OEM filter holder.
There is also a spare Fram P3645 to fit the primary holder. I would feel
better if the primary had a drain valve also, to reduce the chance of water
reaching the secondary, more costly filter. The system has been working for
years, so I'll investigate further before making any changes, although I'll
replace the Fram filter with a better brand.
