Perhaps I need a better seal. Or a new boat. -----Original Message----- From: CnC-List <cnc-list-boun...@cnc-list.com> On Behalf Of Bill Coleman via CnC-List Sent: Saturday, January 25, 2020 1:16 PM To: cnc-list@cnc-list.com Cc: Bill Coleman <colt...@gmail.com> Subject: Re: Stus-List Head Tank Replacement.
I have been thinking about this since Adrian posted, and I also think the Dip Tube would be the way to go. When you are sucking, that vacuum doesn't know the difference between a bottom discharge or a dip-tube, there is liquid there and it is going to suck it. One advantage I can think of in addition to his comment on the leaking at the bottom, is that with a bottom discharge, the hose almost constantly has stinky stuff in it, whereas sucking from the top it only has stinky stuff in it when you suck for a few minutes, then gone. That hose is not likely to emanate as much smell as if it was on the bottom. However, if the rubber seal on the top of the tank is of poor quality as you mention, that could be a problem. I Would be inclined to use the dip tube, as long as the pickup is around an inch from the bottom. Judging from the way my shop vac sucks water from the bilge, seems like it would clean it out pretty good.
