This may be a repeat – a cockpit visible fuel pressure gauge will give you some warning and allow you to find 101 different problems that would be about impossible to solve otherwise, both for A4s and diesels. My pressure gauge has a red light that comes on below 1 PSI. It uses an electrical sender, so there are no fuel lines running around the boat for it, which is nice for those of us with gasoline for fuel. Also a general observation – both A4s and diesels seem to be done in by accessories vastly more often than the engine itself just self-destructing.
