A one-time owner of Vanguard Sailboats and former member of the Sail America's Board of Directors, Johns' involvement in the marine industry dates back well over three decades. "Edson will continue to keep its roots firmly planted in quality, customer service and innovation," Johns said. The company, which was founded in 1859, was acquired from the Keene family - the elder Henry and his two sons, Will and Hank, have been with Edson for more than 60 years. CEO Adam Cove, who joined Edson in 2016, will remain on board. "I am excited about the passion and expertise Chip Johns brings to the company," said Cove. "He has all the tools and experience to lead Edson into its next chapter."
