Funny you should bring that up, as I've just made several trips back to the transom down the port side to replace the exhaust hose.  I must say it took me a bit of doing, had to remove the fuel fill and blower hoses, just barely fit through the opening, but with strategic twists and turns I made it.  i share your sense of "shrinking", I could have done that easy a while back.
