Java installs nicely on the Raq, no different than another Linux/Unix
based machines. Although the rpm, and tarballs leave some things out.
You may still need to set some Environment variables like JAVA_HOME,
JAVA_PATH, and most important CLASSPATH.
I prefer to put these into the /etc/profile file, and make entries below
the PATH env. var. This will ease any manual Java development or code
compilation.
If you need a good Java Application Server, JRun plays very well with
Apache and Cobalt Raq's. Its a bit pricey, but worth the expense. You
can install a free Developer edition, and if you like, buy a license,
enter the license/serial number & the Dev edition is upgraded to what
ever version you bought. No further installation is required.
Just some additional info.
