Hi Jody,
Malcolm already told you how to install these packages. I want to answer
your other question: No, PKGs are not RPMs. They are .tar.gz's that mainly
include a packing list, an install script, an uninstall script and some
RPMs, patches or whatever.
You can easily create PKGs for yourself, this it documented here:
