To anyone that cares,
The RaQ4-Java-Dev-Kit-1.3.pkg is a great package/kit. We recently
migrated from JRun 3.0 Enterprise Edition, to Jakarta-Tomcat. At first
we were a little concerned with how Cobalt decided to install and
configure Jakarta-Tomcat, but have no worries now.
Its a clean install, that is open to modification. We were able to dial
in our RaQ Jakarta-Tomcat to mirror a manually installed version on our
development server.
Other than the clean install, I have found Jakarta-Tomcat to have
increased performance, speed, and most importantly reliability. Jrun
would have to be restarted every couple of months.
The only problem that I have seen so far, is the amount of time it takes
Jakarta-Tomcat to start on a RaQ. This is due to Cobalt setting allot
of Jakarta-Tomcat's configuration at start time. For example all
context entries are added when Jakarta-Tomcat starts. Thus making it
difficult to remove certain unneeded context entries for sites not using
Java.
If that feature could be worked on, this would be a perfect pkg.
All in all very pleased, and would recommend to any one using Java
technology.
