You never set up a record with just your domain name. Do the same thing for the domain name as you did for the host+domain name.
So make sure you have records like domain.com -> IP www.domain.com -> IP or domain.com -> www.domain.com www.domain.com -> IP or domain.com -> IP www.domain.com -> domain.com I believe this is shown in all examples of DNS in the manuals.
