Hi - I'm looking for someone that might be able to shed some light on an OS restore problem. I have a RAQ4r and am trying to install the OS via OS restore cd.
I downloaded a number of them form multiple places (mostly referenced from the list archives) and found one that looks like the most recent build, form the Sun/CObalt site directly. I finally got it to boot up on my linux box, and have attached the raq via x-over cable from one nic interface to the other. I get a link light, and when I reboot the cobalt and hold down the "S" key I get : "select option" I select "boot from net" it says "loading kernel" It does a release check (version), says it's partitioning the disk, says that it's mounting /dev/md and then it says that it is shutting down Mail Service and SMB. Then it says: "system rebooting" This all takes less than a minute. and then it says Loading Kernel, booting and then it cycles endlessly (Loading Kernel, booting, Cobalt Networks, Loading Kernel, booting). I'm pretty sure it's not working. I have the correct nic card (3com 905b), the OS restore disk boots up fine, the cross over cable provides a 100bt link. Anyone have any ideas? I've also ordered the actual OS restore disc form cobalt hoping that it's a wonky ISO. This machine has been down since Friday, the official disk won't be here for another 3 days, and I am at wits end trying to figure out what to do. Thanks in advance, t. jay fowler _______________________________________________ cobalt-developers mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://list.cobalt.com/mailman/listinfo/cobalt-developers
