Did you buy that machine new or was it used? I mean, was it "plain"
when you set it to service? Maybe something was done before you
started working on it.
Do you have another machine running? Maybe you can take down
all services from that machine and restore it from CD.
I once had to do this awful procedure with moving all services
to another machine because someone in my company did some
really bad things to the system ...
