Ah, sometimes people are wrong and sometimes people just don't have the right solution...it's definitely possible to install Mailman on the RaQ3 and RaQ4. I expect it's possible on the XTR and 550 as well and may be possible on the RaQ1/2, though at a minimum the mips machines would require installation of a recent version of Python. > > If we used others' failure to get something running on a > > Cobalt or the fact that the Cobalt is slower than many other systems as > > justification to go with other systems I think it's safe to assume no one > > would be running Cobalt servers. <g> > > On that I heartily disagree. Maybe I didn't state it well, but I was simply pointing out that just because person A can't install product X on a Cobalt server, that doesn't necessarily mean that it can't be done. It doesn't even mean it's difficult to do. It just means person A couldn't do it. <g> Mailman is a case in point. I've installed it; in fact I run a number of Mailman lists myself on a RaQ4. With that clarification my statement should make more sense now. > Thanks, Steve, for pushing me to explain some of my feelings on this > subject. You're welcome. As this thread is now a week old and this will no longer benefit the original poster I've chosen not to reply to most of your email, though you made some good points and there were some things I'd address if I had the time. -- Steve Werby President, Befriend Internet Services LLC http://www.befriend.com/ _______________________________________________ cobalt-developers mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://list.cobalt.com/mailman/listinfo/cobalt-developers
