Not sure on the exact versions, it's been a long time since I last worked with ASP, and since then am very anti-MS. > Anyone have some links or comments about upgrading Ms Scripting > Engine...or maybe heard anything about Sun/Chili/Cobalt updating this > engine? When I was using ASP back in the day, I ran into similar problems. The version may have been updated since initial installation on your Raq4r, but it may require purchasing a new version of ChiliSoft ASP, now Sun ONE ASP. My personal recommendation is that you should run ASP on a MS platform if you want the latest and greatest features of ASP. Otherwise, I would use something like PHP, or as recommended by Sun on the FAQ from Sun ONE ASP use JSP or Java. In the end the answer you are seeking is somewhat obvious. Sun has sued MS, and it's safe to say the two practically hate each others. With that said, MS will not easily license their latest technology to Sun, only to be included and sold in one of Sun's software products. It seems most progress on the licensing was made before Cobalt bought ChiliSoft, and before Sun bought Cobalt. I would expect the progress to be stuck in the mud now that Sun owns ChiliSoft, and the ASP software ChiliSoft developed. Do not get me wrong, it's nice that there is support for ASP on other platforms other than MS. At the same time, if you have migrated platforms, you might as well migrate to a technology that is supported on a variety of platforms. I switched about two years ago from Java ASP and have not had any problems since then. I can upgrade my Java application server when needed, and even choose the version/brand. Not to mention choosing which JRE to use, version/brand as well. Along with the fact that my apps can be deployed on just about any Java enabled device, or platform. My 0.02 -- Sincerely, William L.
