The only way I know of the "perfectly" protect a server is to disconnect it from the net. A less than perfect way would be to run it behind a NATted firewall. Are you already doing that? I'd also recommend keeping the server up-to-date, and using the Firewall available for the 550, even though you've got an external firewall. You can install it and set it up yourself, or hire one of the capable consultants on this list (perhaps us <smile>) to do it for you. > Our firewall is blocking everything except ports 80, 110, 25. So if you're able to use your RaQ it's likely that your firewall has other ports open, perhaps without your knowledge. > Is there a good (smtp?) email-virusscanner for the raq or can i make use > of a build-in function. Though email virii won't effect your server, they could severely impact your clients, so you might want to block it anyway. Anti-virus tools aren't really do-it-yourself, since the virus footprints must be updated daily or so to be of any use. Most of us would rather buy a commercial package and a commercial service than spend all of our time studing virii. There are lots of posts in the archives for this list as well as the cobalt-users list which you might find helpful if you decide to roll your own; or you might want to look at a commercial package, such as the "AV-suite" we (and others) market. I'll be happy to discuss our services offlist; I'm sure others here will as well. Jeff -- Jeff Lasman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Linux and Cobalt/Sun/RaQ Consulting nobaloney.net, P. O.
