Okay, fair comment about checking who all is allowed to send to the list. Thanks for the input and its something easily missed as well.
I can confirm that the list is setup to accept email from anyone and has worked correctly like that. And we are using the standard mailling list software that has come with the Qube with which I believe is Majordomo. The problem seem to occur with the occassional email and I suspect it is not reserved just to the mailling list (just I can't prove it yet) and we the same/similar problem on one of our other servers running a linux/unix variant as well. Any other interesting thoughts on the matter anyone Regards, James Nesbitt -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Liam Delahunty Sent: Tuesday, October 08, 2002 17:07 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [cobalt-developers] Email(s) not being delivered James Nesbitt wrote: <quote> I have some cases reported of users (including myself) sending emails to a mailling list on our Qube3 and the Qube not actually delivering the email. The users are using either MS Outlook 98 or MS Outlook 2000. As far as I know, the emails are formated as either Rich Text or as HTML. Is it possible that MS Outlook to somehow incorrectly format or "corrupts" the message when in Rich Text or HTML and when it is sent to the Qube3, the Qube acknowledges receipt of the email which needs to be sent - then, because it is incorrectly formatted or partially "corrupted" is unsure what to do with it and therefore drops the email without sending an error report to the user or the list-owner or postmaster at all? </quote> I wuld suggest that it's more likely that the list (I'm assuming a majordomo here) is set up to either only accept mail from list members or the list administrator. Also, I've only had success with [EMAIL PROTECTED] entries, so if you've tried [EMAIL PROTECTED] it may bounce around "somewhere". I believe, (but I may be wrong as I've mucked about with the config of my lists), that any bounces on a cobalt Majordomo go to the Raq admin, not the list admin or the site admin.
