I've been using du, but wasn't sure I had the right files/ones that were safe to delete.
Your right about that not being a developer question, I guess I lost the scope after all of the non-developer questions we've had over the last year.

The usual suspects are the kernel sources and default java installations.

Well, you could just remove them ? ("man rm")
Or, if you feel you would miss them, you can copy them to another partition.
