Some hardware was > not supported by 2.3.x, so don't install 2.3.x on GEN_V hardware. :) We use the console port for most ROM changes, and I note that the procedure for reflashing a 2.3.x version is quite different than a 2.9.x version. I haven't actually tried the flashtool for this reason. When time is available, I will give it a try, we do have a couple servers with the TSOP socket for the ROM.
