I had a perfectly (I thought) normal 550 up and running without any issues. About an hour ago it went down and will not reboot. The LCD says "kernel panic" and it won't come back to life. I've had the people at the data centre try booting from the ROM, but that will not work either. If anyone has any tips to troubleshoot this, I'd appreciate hearing them.

What do you mean by "booting from the ROM"??

I think that's one of the options on the LCD menu (boot from ROM kernel?). I have to admit, I've never actually been in the same room with the machine, so I could be completely off.

100% of the time the best thing to do is attach a console/terminal/tty to the serial port and see what's happening, at least you'll have an idea of where it's panicking which might give you an idea of how to fix it.

Thanks -- that's very helpful. I've got someone hooking up a monitor right now!
