- backup the custom start script in /etc/init.d - backup everything in /etc/MailScanner and MOVE IT OUT (ancient conf may not work very well with modern versions) - do a 'normal' install of the rpm version, it compiles the rpms on the box so you will have some wiating time, but at least everythign gets registered as it should - check the start script, and replace it with your saved one if neccesary - reconfigure the main conf from scratch - put back custom word lists, or white lists where they came from.
