Woo hoo - kudos to Brenton Leanhardt - he's the man! He had asked me how much memory I was allocating to my guest VM... My machine is RAM constrained (as in it has 1 GB), so I was only allocating 256 MB :o Apparently I need a minimum of 512 MB ;) Oops!
Its installing just fine now :) Thanks y'all for the help! Without going into too much detail I have done a --replace-self a few times and the host always seems to reinstall completely in under 10 minutes. I believe it is installing - the progress bar indicated 1% (fairly quickly) - but took almost 3.25 hrs to reach 12%. I finally killed it when I installed Cobbler on the host itself - and then attempted a KOAN VM install from that host itself... I could try to re-download the DVD ISO again. I considered that earlier too - but didn't as the host seems to install OK using the same RPMs... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott Henson" <shen...@redhat.com> To: cobbler@lists.fedorahosted.org Sent: Thursday, November 5, 2009 1:38:11 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: Re: Installing a x86_64 CentOS 5.4 VM on an x86_64 CentOS 5.4 host -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 On 11/05/2009 01:04 PM, Scot Floess wrote: > Some additional information :) > > I installed cobbler on the x86_64 host...and trying to install a guest > vm there - same hang on glibc-common. > It sounds like an anaconda problem. At this point cobbler/koan should be completely out of the equation. Is it downloading glibc-common or actually installing? If it is downloading that might be an issue because the install source is on the cobbler server, but if it is installing, that is completely out of cobbler's hands. Maybe glibc-common is bad on whatever media you imported the distro from? - -- Scott Henson Red Hat CIS Operator WVU Alum BSAE/BSME -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Fedora - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQIcBAEBCAAGBQJK8xuPAAoJEN/U2xG4t+kAr2MQAKA9QFykh+QxlpV0wtFwr3em pF6Rn31XB76WsIc41hv+LepMqawW7QMP7FDib5UtzHUrGeMlaCwCx8ba+9p2HpCR zqiHgdLVlAfkDAZrD/6zqqrdeJhVUrFgClmzDSe1ZjRj/c82LGFjeVKihggmWulj fHzmH3HJyhWMfzfScgifDMA6BHgGjGCzMHIlMTPjWW82145Qysul9WGRbjO2OeO/ koq/I0VES4EOfWCTa6FktODMam7nEz6YeVg9z56fJAXeh4JBM5X73t3Dzzza+Duy NIVYlvMUg6nrSpoWoF+F6r+uTpZrjjJd7iPmCF30i95zfKhRURUJMRttpiJy347L XUZG4CL3k/L/R1/E03FlfwS+T/47YSlaCF/D4Yceulx3IRqeHE7V+43cLjSX+/D+ h0Q+JijHOcAAtjKKfm6G6+it2MNamR3xsvo0n8EJWfub0JEiBn4uhRAhrqkgDCfd OJ7dMflUhezbc5YpKrsx9eAGvy8UuBzJcyjw5LChZERx1PUXue1FE55rkK5SUuAA RN+HSgOKMUPAgMkRC3BOYgjbau0hhW28ZjaYLeTjBbc9BSPICOHNwnS8sG/mYcSS NKZMpJF8mCS++pmC0iI4x1YAL+hXP0105qIgejooB29g66r3hekcvKEcUV5Xvbux cQjFAa2bV4PuCwYiHNZD =1wys -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ cobbler mailing list cobbler@lists.fedorahosted.org https://fedorahosted.org/mailman/listinfo/cobbler -- Make It So Number One _______________________________________________ cobbler mailing list cobbler@lists.fedorahosted.org https://fedorahosted.org/mailman/listinfo/cobbler -- Make It So Number One _______________________________________________ cobbler mailing list cobbler@lists.fedorahosted.org https://fedorahosted.org/mailman/listinfo/cobbler -- Make It So Number One _______________________________________________ cobbler mailing list cobbler@lists.fedorahosted.org https://fedorahosted.org/mailman/listinfo/cobbler
