Dear Cobirders,
I made it up to Gregory Canyon this morning for the dawn chorus. The
best birding was near the stone bridge on Flagstaff Rd. and up the
Flagstaff trail. Singing local breeders included Lazuli Bunting,
MacGillivray's Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Yellow-breasted Chat and Gray
Catbird. The highlight certainly was a perfectly perched Eastern
Phoebe. The Phoebe was upstream on the southeast side of the
drainage, but visible from the stone bridge on Flagstaff Rd. Oddly, I
saw no Vireos or Orioles at all in the Canyon. On the way back home,
I quickly checked behind St. Andrews Church on Baseline for the
Magnolia Warbler, but did not see it. I emphasize quickly, as it
could still be present.

Cheers,
Walter Szeliga
