Hi all,

Bill Maynard, Rachel Hopper, Larry Semo, and I checked out various bodies of
water in Southeastern Colorado today.  We saw some rarities, and other things.

John Martin Reservoir (from the Northwest side):
NEOTROPIC CORMORANT - 1 photographed

Fort Lyon S.W.A. marshes:
LEAST BITTERN - 1 seen well, and photographed

Adobe Creek Reservoir, Bent County:
LAUGHING GULL - 1 adult alternate plumage

The best places for shorebirds today were the Lake Meredith (Crowley County)
feedlot ponds, Lake Cheraw (Otero County), John Martin Reservoir (Bent County),
and Adobe Creek Reservoir (Bent County).  Lake Henry & Lake Meredith (Crowley
County), and Lake Holbrook (Otero County) are all very high, without shorebird
habitat.

There were Forster's Terns, Black Terns, Frankin's Gulls, and American White
Pelicans at some of these bodies of water.  There were a flock of 44 Mountain
Plovers at Adobe Creek Reservoir (Bent County), in a prairie dog town, and a
flock of 25 or so Long-billed Curlews at Adobe Creek Reservoir (Bent County),
as well.

There were several Dickcissels singing in a field between Lake Holbrook and
Lake Cheraw in Otero County.

Good birding,

Brandon Percival
