This is a day late, but just wanted to mention a few things seen during two
sessions (in the a.m. north of Prospect with Larry Griffin) and the pm over in
the Running Deer Natural Area) yesterday.

Warbling Vireo (2 different birds) each one this fall seems to look a little
different than all the rest, but can't make them into anything other than
Warbling
American Pipit (2 flyovers) at Prospect Ponds NA
Gray Catbird (1) a lingering or moving bird feasting on Virginia Creeper
berries overgrowing a thicket of Russian-olive
Cackling Goose (1) well-studied at the feedlot pond on Sharp Point - Larry and
I wondered about the possibility of this being a bird that hung around all
summer
Lark Bunting (1 female? or imm. male) only second time I've ever seen in the
Poudre River corridor thru Fort Collins
Barn Swallow (flock of 250-300 birds perched in trees over cattails at
Cottonwood Hollow) obviously a group on the move
Sparrow assortment at Running Deer/Cottonwood Hollow that included: Lark,
Brewer's, Vesper, Song, Chipping, and the Lark Bunting

Rabbitbrush is under-rated and highly valuable to birds and pollen-seeking
insects (bees, flies, moths, soldier beetles, etc.)

Various "meadowhawk" dragonflies: western, white-faced, variegated, striped,
and 1 either cherry-faced or autumn (= "yellow-legged").

Total of 43 species of birds
