See Jeff Jones' posting on 30 March

In the backyard of 101 Stephanie Place, Divide, CO. Are some feeders you
can see from Joshua Road. As Jeff mentioned: stay on the road. There is
no need to trespass to see these birds.

>From 8AM to 9AM on Saturday, 3 April, I was able to observed both
Brown-Capped and Gray-Crowned Rosy Finches coming to the feeders. Viewed in
a mixed, very small flock (perhaps 20 -25 birds. Saw only one male
Gray-Crowned, but that was a lifer for me. The Rosies were competing with
many Cassin's Finches, Red-WInged Blackbirds (mostly on the ground),
Starlings (on the ground), a pair of Magpies (working a nearby suet feeder),
a pair of Pygmy nuthatches, and a few Pine Siskins.

The Brown-Capped seemed to prefer the hanging feeder just outside the
plate-glass window on the house. The Gray-Crowned male lighted on that
feeder a few times, but seemed to prefer the concrete slab below the feeder.

The view is good from Joshua road, but morning light is NOT good. This was
my second visit (the first did not turn up Gray-Crowned). I highly
recommend a scope for the best views. Today, like last Wednesday, the wind
was blowing from the west at 40 knots. I used a window mount for my scope
and had good luck with that by parking in the AM a little to the SouthWest
of the house.

On Wednesday, 31 March, I visited the spot at 4PM. The light was much
better, but the wind was worse. I got good views of the Brown-Capped then,
but only a fleeting glimpse of the Gray. No Blacks to be found -- and I
waited patiently.

It was clear the finches were lighting in two nearby Ponderosa Pines, but
the wind was blowing so hard, it was impossible for me to get my glasses on
any of them.
