Hi COBirders, Monday Nancy Gobris (Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory) opened the banding station at Chico Basin Ranch Monday 4/19 to good result - but low numbers. (She was unable to get internet access yesterday - sorry for the delayed report) A N Parula was heard singing all day, and banding highlights included Bewick's Wren and male Hooded Warbler. Also netted were recaptured (returned) Am Robins, and Blue Jay from last year's efforts. It isn't very green there yet.
Tuesday Slow. The N Parula seems to have vacated, also neither the Bewick's Wren nor the Hooded Warbler were re-located. Banding highlights for today - 2 new adult White-crowned Sparrows, a recaptured (returned) female Red-shafted Flicker banded last fall, probably brooding, and 2 recaptured Am Robins. Also observed - Say's Phoebe, several flickers. Yellow-rumped Warbler. Weather permitting, the banding station will be open W, Th, F, Sat this week, with nets opened about dawn. We should be on a 6-day schedule through about May 22.
