The park is so large that I covered only a small part this morning.
Land birds (high density)on the south side of the reservoir in the Prairie Loop and south of it included:
Say's phoebe - 25
W kingbird - 10
Bullock's oriole - 4
orange- cr warbler - 4
chipping sparrow - 50
lark sparrow - 12
western meadowlarks and cowbirds and red-w blackbirds everywhere all over the park plus flickers, robins, house finches, many swallows, and 3 spotted sandpipers running along the sand At the meadow west of the woods around Cherry Creek - multiple snipe, courtship behavior
yellowthroat - 2
At the new wetlands, Cottonwood Creek -
nothing spectacular, but 2 avocets, 3 western sandpipers, 1 lesser yellowlegs, 1 greater yellowlegs, 2 spotted sandpipers, cinnamon teal, gadwall, mallard, ibis (about 6, flew back and forth across road), killdeer
3 savannah sparrows
No sign of the 3 Wilson's phalaropes seen yesterday.
No houe wrens, yellow warblers, emids...they are next in.
Maybe back this evening for another "bird fix."
