On thursday 5/13, four of us started birding at 4:00 am and did a big day count for the SLV. The early morning started with snow flurries in the mountains while we were owling...not a good start. We worked at it all day and ended up with 123 species...well short of the record 143. Best birds were Black-bellied Plover, Northern Waterthrush, Olive-sided Flycatcher at the Alamosa Riverwalk, Red-necked Phalarope, Snowy Plover, Swainson's Thrush, and Ferruginous Hawk catching a rodent. Jerry Poe, Randy Ghormley, John Stump and I were the team. We felt that the migration is still behind and we could have done better with more normal spring conditions for this date.
Was a lot of fun.... John Rawinski -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group. To post to this group, send email to cobirds@googlegroups.com For more options, visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/cobirds?hl=en?hl=en
