This morning I found a female Williamson's Sapsucker at Lakeside Cemetery in
Canon City. This is another location that usually hosts wintering
sapsuckers and I had found fresh sapwells in several pine trees earlier this
week. I am am unsure if this is another sapsucker or possibly the one I
found at Centennial Park as I couldn't find any at that location this
morning and these location are only about a mile (by flight) apart. In
previous years it has appeared that some sapsuckers were feeding at more
than one location.

Also Rich Miller told me he had seen a female Williamson's Sapsucker at
Rouse Park and he wondered if that might be the same bird as I found at The
Abbey. Again these locations are only about a mile apart and I have in past
years thought that sapsuckers have foraged at both. There are also several
more locations on private property that I have found fresh sap wells in
previous years but the birds appeared to be moving from the main feeding
areas at The Abbey, Centennial Park or Lakeside Cemetery to supplement their
food sources.
