On Monday and Tuesday morning of this week, there was a very dark Red Tailed Hawk on a pole along Highway 52 just west of County road 23. Since I was driving to a job, and because of traffic, I could not stop. On the way back yesterday afternoon, I was looking for it, and found one very similar, possibly the same one, just east of that County Road on the north side of 52. This one had dark eyes, a very faintly reddish tail, and was pretty uniformly dark with very faint lighter streakings that were only visible with a scope. I was thinking it was a Harlan's, but wondering how to distinguish it from a Krider's, except by range. -Elena Klaver
