--About 1:15 on Nov 8 Bob Andrews, Michael Kiessig, and Mike Henwood found a
"Stub-tailed" Wren, as a PACIFIC WREN, in the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt. "It was
south of the foot bridge, near the downed logs along the little creek below the
stairs coming down from the subdivision above. This is on the south side of
Clear Creek and almost directly south of the parking lot in the Wheat Ridge
Greenbelt off of 44th." (This area used to be known as the Tree Bridge Trail).
Their ID was PACIFIC WREN "because of the dark color and rapid call notes." The
call sounded "exactly like the Pacific Wren call on Stokes." (pers com) This
would be the first Jeffco record if accepted & one of a few Colorado records.
If someone can get photos and/or tape recordings of the wren, it would be most
helpful. The wren was heard on November 9 but not seen by several birders.
