For readers of the Rare Bird alert, one way to tell what birds should have a form filled out and sent to the records committee is if the name is capitalized in the report. You may have wondered how I decide which bird name to capitalize. There is a state bird review list available at the cfo website and the birds which the records committee would like documentation about have their names capitalized and I use that system on the RBA. Recently a question about GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at Red Rocks appeared on CoBirds, a check of records submitted did not indicate any recent reports for the bird at Red Rocks.
