The last few hours of the evening (12/28) Sol Miller and I decided to check for
interesting birds on the lakes in southwest Loveland in Larimer County. Lots of
open water for the upcoming CBC on the 1st, we were doing a little pre-count
week birding (count week starts tomorrow). The few interesting birds we saw
include:

Dry Creek Reservoir
    Long-tailed Duck - 1
    Greater Scaup - 4
    Ruddy Duck - 9
    Eared Grebe - 2

Carter Lake - as the sun was falling behind the mountains
    Glaucous Gull - 1 1st year
    Thayer's Gull - 1 1st year

Other than this we couldn't find anything else of interest. A week ago I saw a
Say's Phoebe at Hertha Reservoir. As of yesterday there has been ~10
Bonaparte's
Gulls at Boedecker Reservoir (which has been there for the past several weeks),
I didn't see them there today but hopefully they are still around for the 1st.
