Adams County:
--A juv Thayer's Gull was reported by Sanders at Barr Lake on February 26.

Boulder County:
--Severs reports that the GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW continues near the Teller
Farm North parking lot at least through February 16.   Head along the trail
west and it was long the fence line planted with Skunk brush and Plum in
piles of tumbleweeds.  On February 17, Heinrich refound the
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW.  Heinrich reported that the flock of sparrows also
moves to the north side of Valmont near the White Farm House.  On February
19, Gent refound the GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW along the trail west of the
parking lot,  it was on the trail for a short time, then flew across Valmont
to the weeds on the west side of the White Farm House.  When the sparrows
are on the ground feeding, they are difficult to find.
--A Winter Wren was reported by Nunes on Boulder Creek in a Willow Tangle on
February 21.  This spot is  NW of the water treatment plant by Cottonwood
Marsh.
--Smart reported that the TUNDRA SWAN has returned to Valmont Power Plant on
February 23.

Delta County:
--Luke reported 25 Barrow's Goldeneyes on the river at the north end of the
Confluence Park.  On February 21, Garrison reported 23 Barrow's Goldeneyes
at Confluence Park.  On February 23, Garrison reported 13 Barrow's
Goldeneyes at Confluence Park.

Denver County:
--A female Long-tailed Duck was reported by Andrews on Smith Lake (north
lake) of Washington Park on February 26.  She was with Common Goldeneyes in
the NE part of the lake.

El Paso County:
--A Winter Wren was reported by Chartier at Fountain Creek Regional Park on
February 19.  It was on the edge of the water on the west side of the trail
directly across from MM 18.
--A Chihuahuan Raven was reported by Jeff Jones on Squirrel Creek Road east
of Peyton Hwy on February 20.

Fremont County:
--An imm male PINE WARBLER was reported by Drummond on the DFO field trip to
Canon City on February 17.  The warbler was at the west end of Canon City
Riverwalk about 150 yards east of Sells Ave along the Bluff Trail.  On
February 20, Rich Miller found PINE WARBLER just west of the 1/2 mile marker
on the Bluff Trail.
--A Rufous-crowned Sparrow was reported by Moss on Tunnel Drive of Canon
City on February 26.
It was found near the end of the trail from Tunnel Drive.

Jefferson County:
--A male Barrow's Goldeneye (possibly a pair) was reported by Hackos at
Prospect Park in Wheatridge on February 19.  Directions:   Park in main lot
off of 44th.  Take the path past the cormorant/heron roost lake and over the
bridge.  Look at the lake to the right of the bridge.
--On February 26, Henwood reported Curve-billed Thrasher, White-throated
Sparrow, GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW, Harris's Sparrow, and Gray-crowned
Rosy-Finch at Red Rocks Trading Post.

Larimer County:
--An adult YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was reported by Mammoser on
January 26 or 27th and by Leatherman on February 7 at Grandview
Cemetery.  On February 13, Leatherman reported both juv and ad male
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER at Grandview Cemetery.  The juv was in the NE
Corner and the ad in the SW Corner.  On February 14, Mammoser
reported seeing both sapsuckers in the same area as Leatherman reported on
February 13.
On February 15, the ad male YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was seen by
Leatherman in the American Linden with old sap wells.  Directions:  From the
cemetery Entrance at the west end of Mountain Ave.  Cross the bridge over
the ditch, make an immediate left, go south along the ditch about 50 yards
to the road dividing Sections G and 8, turnright (west) and go another 50
yards to the second black security light pole on your left.  The American
Linden of interest to the sapsucker is the large-diameter shade tree several
feet south of the second light pole.  On February 16, Leatherman reported
that the adult male YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER spent the morning in the pine
grove east of the porta potty in the SW corner of the cemetery.   On
February 18, Leatherman reported that the adult male YELLOW-BELLIED
SAPSUCKER was in the Austrian Pine grove east of the porta potty at noon,
but was not there earlier in the morning.  Leatherman reports that there are
a
lot of woodpeckers in those pines so be careful in identifying the
sapsucker.
--A female Barrow's Goldeneye was reported by Lefko at Prospect Ponds
Natural Area in Fort Collins on February 20.  It was in the SE corner of the
middle pond.
--Lapland Longspurs and Snow Buntings were reported by Wild in the NE corner
of the Timnath Walmart Parking Lot at I-25 and Harmony on February 25.

Morgan County:
--An AMERICAN BLACK DUCK was reported by Wild at Jackson Lake State Park on
February 21.

Prowers County:
--Northern Cardinals (2m, 1f) were reported by Leatherman at Lamar Community
College Woods on February 23.
--A juv YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was reported by Leatherman at the north end
of Willow Creek Park in a tall HoneyLocust south of the concrete outhouse on
February 22.
--Red-bellied Woodpeckers were reported by Leatherman at Willow Valley
Subdivision on February 22 and at Riverside Cemetery on February 23.

Routt County:
--1 Snow Bunting was reported by Litteral on CO 131 1 mile north of Toponas
at the north end of stacks of hay on February 20.  On February 21, Luke
refound the Snow Bunting 200 yards south of the hay stack on CR 6.  On
February 22, Korte refound the Snow Bunting 1 -2 miles further north on CO
131.  The Snow Bunting was with Horned Larks at a spot just north of an area
where the highway department had cleared for snow storage and the next curve
on the highway.
--Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches were reported by Luke on CR 6 north of Toponas
on February 21.  Korte reported no Rosy-Finches on CR 6 on February 22.

Summit County:
--15+ Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Niyo at the Silverthorne Sewage
Ponds on February 14.
Nims reported 10 Barrow's Goldeneyes (4m, 6f) at the Blue River Water
Treatment Plant on February 20.
--All 3 species of Rosy-Finches were reported by Nims at the Keystone Ski
Area on February 20.

Weld County:
--3 Lapland Longspurs were reported by Lefko at WCR 31 and WCR 100 on
February 26.
--On February 23 at the new Frederick High School, Deininger reported a
Chihuahuan Raven chasing a Common Raven.

The next monthly meeting of Denver Field Ornithologists will be on Monday,
February 28 at 7:30 pm at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Ricketson
Auditorium.  Paul Bannick will give a presentation on "Owls & Woodpeckers of
the West: A Visual Feast".

The DFO field trip for Saturday, March 5 will be Photographing Dippers at
Lair o'the Bear with Lee Farrell (303-932-7859).  Meet at Lair o'the Bear
parking lot.  From Morrison and C-470, drive 4 miles west on CO 74 to park
entrance on left.  Please call Lee to PRE-REGISTER for the trip.  Half day
trip at most.

The DFO field trip for Sunday, March 6 will be Rosy FInches and More led by
Mike Henwood (303-716-8551 or [email protected]).  Meet at C-470 and Morriso
exit at dirt parking lot east of Conoco Station.  Will head to Red Rocks and
to Conifer for a number of mountain feeders.  Please PRE-REGISTER.  This
trip is limited to 12 people.  Half day trip.
